The Central Passage
 Hi everyone,
I thought I would post some pictures of the inside of the house.
Everything is coming together and each week I can see more and more progress.  I will be adding more pictures as time goes on and the rooms are complete.
The picture to the left shows the central passage.  It has an  inlaid parquet floor, the walls are covered in a wallpaper mural and has a plaster-work frieze and cornice.

The Front Parlor/Music Room
The front parlor/music room was one of the first rooms to be finished. It has a hardwood floor, lots of plaster-work, raised panel wainscoting, and the walls are painted dove gray. Just a note here about the plaster-work. All of the plaster-work yuo see in the house was done by me.  Everything in this house is handmade. The only pre-made things I bought were the light fixtures and three of those I made one of which can be seen here in the front parlor.  The grand piano is another project I'm working on but not quite finished yet,  I usually have several projects going at the same time.  Pictured below is some of the ceiling and frieze plaster-work.

Pictured to the right is the rear parlor. It is directly behind the front parlor with a door connecting the two rooms. You can see the piano through the doorway. This has elaborate moldings, a coffered ceiling, pediments over the doors and window and the chandelier and lamps were made by me and the fireplace is wired to glow as all the fireplaces will be throughout the house.

The house has been fully wired all the lights and fireplaces work thankfully. I've never been much of an electrician,I leave that to the experts, but with the copper tape method it almost impossible to mess up but I held my breath just the same until I plugged it in and they all came on,  Then came a sigh of relief.

Well that just about does it for this post.  I'll post more later of other rooms.  Your comments are always welcome!

Bye for now,
Chris

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my new project. I am currently working on a 1/24 (half-inch) scale dollhouse.

I am late getting this blog started as the house is pretty far along but I wanted to share with you all what I have done so far.  I will post pictures and updates as I continue working on it.

A LITTLE ABOUT THE HOUSE

It is constructed from foam core board and all the trims and moldings are basswood.  I designed the house so that it could be viewed from three sides and when finished will have 18 rooms.  There will also be 2 other structures that will be part of the plantation and that is the servants quarters and the kitchen house.
A view of the mansion with the side panel in place

For now here are some pictures and in the next post I will describe some of my building techniques.
Here one of the side panels has been removed.

Some of the lights have been installed as can be seen in
this lighted view of the front porch and upper gallery

In the next post I will also show some interior shots.
Thanks for your interest in my blog.

Until next time,
Chris
